So I went to sign on with a recruitment agency yesterday.
I filled in a lot of forms signed my name a lot, let them take a photocopy of my passport. I asked to do mostly office work temping, but pretty much agreed to anything they had which I could travel to easily.
Wasn't really an interview but an informal chat with one of the people who worked there. I told her I had just graduate from a film degree, had started a blog about being unemployed, how that right now I want to earn money to start my own company up, but felt I needed experience working closely with any business to gain experience with how a business works etc.
I tried to go in there being not overly desperate for a job, but by the end they just said "So we just need to find you a job" and I agreed and they said they'd phone me when they found something for me. Asked them to not only look for temp jobs for me but also permanent job. If I do any temp work for them, I get a time sheet signed and send it to them once a week before 10am on Monday and they pay me from their payroll every Friday. Be nice to get paid weekly at the moment.
Have also applied to do marketing for a club near me, I know people who know people, so hopefully a good word has been put in for me. Already have some ideas for them, which maybe I should have out in the covering letter, but interviews take place at the beginning of August. I defiantly think I have what it takes to do it, having a background in promo and watching how the cafe/bar I babysit has developed with its marketing scheme online and offline, I could defiantly start some innovative re-branding and carry it though.
