I applied to do a BAFTA internship the other day. I won't blog every application I do, but I though this one would be interesting.
It's for a Communications Internship.
"We are looking for a bright and creative Online Communications Intern with a passion for film, television and/or video games to aid us in the daily maintenance of our online platforms and communications.
The role is initially offered for a three month period from August 2011, with a view to extending the internship for a further three months.
The successful candidate should have hands-on experience of working with online media and the ability to write engaging website copy."
I felt I fitted the role well, I love film, hence the degree. I also love television as when you watch upwards of five films a week, it's nice to sit and watch something that is only half an hour to an hour long and have a series to look forward to watching once a week. Rather than waiting a year for a sequel. I've always loved video games since having a Snes and button bashing Street Fighter with my brother after school. I also am half working in the only Games Cafe/Bar in the UK. This means I have to keep up to date with new releases and technologies, as well as old favourites.
The online platforms bit, well I wrote an interview with Lindsay MacGowen during my 2nd year that was published on an online film magazine. I have my own website, blog, twitter account, Linkedin, and Facebook which is all updated pretty regularly, possible to much some days.
So BAFTA, I'm sure a lot of people have applied for this position, and I'm sure most of them are out of work Graduates like myself looking to start poking there toes though the heavy fire door that is the Film Industry. But how many of them could bring 9-bit mega coffee to the office. It's really very good coffee. But if you think I'm being bias just ask the UK offices of Ubisoft, Capcom and EA. I'm sure you've got their numbers :)
